Drawing Instructions

How to Color Sunset with Colored Pencils

Step 1
First, you must draw a straight horizon line from the paper’s left to the right side. The line should be neither from the center nor from the top side. It should from more or less in the center of the drawing paper. You can use a ruler to make the line as straight as needed.

Step 2
Now follow the straight line and add a lumpy mountain valley from the side of the picture. Make sure to leave some spaces from the middle. We are going to take our river through there.

Step 3
After completing on of the side, draw another mountain valley on the opposite side. As I have mentioned above, we will draw a river through these mountains. So, leave some spaces between them.

Step 4
Next, you must draw the sun in the middle of the picture. In this case, you must draw a circle, which should be at the end of the mountain, touching the straight line in half.

Step 5
Now draw some zigzag lines below the sun to express its reflection on the water. These zigzag lines should be within the empty space we have left between two mountains.

Step 6
After that, draw a palm tree on one side of the valley. It will make the picture more attractive.

Step 7
The sky is empty, so let’s fill it with some birds. It will be a great idea to draw some M-shaped birds by the side of the sun. So, without any delay, draw them by the side of the sun.

Fill the Sky with Some Birds

Step 8

“Okay, we have drawn the sun, mountains, trees, and birds; now, it is time to draw the river. Well, you have already drawn the river by leaving an empty space in the middle of the mountains. Yes, found that interesting? You have to make it more clear by adding some waves. Simply add some wavy lines across the water to indicate the waves.”

Step 9
Then add a couple of curved lines, maintaining a specific angle across the sea. It will represent the ocean waves inside of the picture you have drawn.

Step 10
Now, it is time for the finishing touch of the entire picture, and that’s the coloring. Color the sunset area using your yellow, orange, purple, and pink colors. It will be a great addition to your picture if you can add a mixture of all these colors. You can follow some process of mixing colors with one another. I have also done the same.

Instead of using a particular color in one area, I have used a mixture of all of them in some areas and found it more beautiful than before. Anyway, make sure to add some bluish hues to the water. It will make the picture more realistic. Okay, your sunset picture is ready now.
