  • Go to your local hardware store and get a can of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide. This is what the pros use to unclog clogged coils in window air conditioning units, heat pumps, refrigerators, freezers, etc.
  • Spray about 10-12 squirts (usually equals 1 tablespoon) of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide onto our condenser coil fins (“c” value on the label shown below) from 5-6 ft away using a spray bottle with a good spray nozzle as this will give you more even coverage with less chance of over-spray which can damage other parts of the unit such as our compressor or outdoor fan.
  • Wait around 5 minutes for the peroxide to start fizzing and bubbling on the coil, which indicates that it is now at work neutralizing the clogged dirt from our coils fins using its acidic properties (Note: Proper ventilation is advised with a fan running during this process).
  • NOTE: If you are dealing with more than one AC unit, be sure to do the above steps for both sides of each AC unit if there are two units present in your property or house.
  • Follow up with a light spray of Furnace Air Filter Cleaner if necessary after neutralizing any drainage residue left over after our coil cleaning procedure (this step will help prolong the life of our air conditioning, heat pump, refrigerator, freezer, etc. unit’s entire cooling system).

You can install a window air conditioner almost anywhere in your home. They work by extracting hot air from inside your home and blowing cool air into it, significantly reducing the temperature of the interior space. In fact, some can lower temperatures far more effectively than a whole-house central AC unit or larger stand-alone units installed in an attic or other room of your house.

  • To avoid damage, do not cover the grills of any air conditioner with newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, or other materials while it is in operation. 
  • When operating an air conditioner placed in a window position, always keep the screen in place or closed to prevent children from coming into contact with the unit.
  • To reduce energy consumption, especially when using your air conditioner to cool off only one room, try using ceiling fans, which help distribute cooled air evenly throughout the room and reduce energy costs without turning on your AC units.
